Ive just had the ever patient and total angling resilient Mark Harvey down for a 3 day trip so that's why I haven't updated the blog for a few days .I thought id wait until after we finished the mission.
The misión we decided on was to target late couches and gilt head bream inside the river systems of Falmouth bay .Other species like bass would be welcome but we wanted to see if the bream had left for wherever they go in the winter. So ,armed with fresh lug and rag and some frozen prawns, razor and squid we left on the tide for day one .
Day one .....not good I'm afraid but mark did manage a reasonable couches Bream which was his first ever and we did both enjoy the easy laid back fishing of the harbour as we watched other boats come home early from the beating they took in what looked like a nasty old surf !We did however realise that we could make a few positive changes to our day two plan which may improve are chances .We rigged up a simple float rig ,put any thing that wasn't a gilt rig away and worked out wind and tide a bit better .
Day two ....was a much better team effort as we anchored in a new spot ,caught good couches bream on spinner and bait and the floated prawn baits smashed them. We even managed a nice few bull Huss as a welcome bonus.
Day 3 ....We got the planning for this one spot on perfect .Went to a new mark, got the timing perfect and mark caught a decent guilt on cast number one then two more and lost another.I had two nice couches on the float and......home for tea and medals!!!
GREAT BIG HUG TO MARK HARVEY!!!
